He earned a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Duke University in Durham, N.C with a concentration in Organization Leadership. He also holds a Master of Divinity Degree from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Pennsylvania State University. Pastor Brennan began his pastoral call at Second Canaan Baptist Church, in Harlem, New York, where he faithfully served until 2006.
He is the Senior Pastor at his home church, Canaan Baptist Church in Germantown. Canaan is a large thriving urban congregation, that highlights a Christian Arts Ministry, an After School Enrichment Program, and a thriving Community Development Corporation.
Pastor Brennan has fostered partnerships with local and regional philanthropies to provide services to the disadvantaged including mentoring boys, distributing food and clothing, assisting families of the incarcerated, and mobilizing volunteers to build schools and to serve in orphanages in Uganda. Under his leadership, the church successfully completed a seven year, two million dollar plus capital campaign above and beyond the church’s operational budget. Those funds were utilized to renovate the church’s historic sanctuary, acquire an adjacent property, and develop three contiguous properties owned by Canaan into Family, Economic and Education Empowerment Centers. These centers seek to serve the community through a biblical approach that is holistic in focus and empowering in application.
Pastor Brennan is a past Vice Moderator of the PA Eastern Keystone Baptist Association, a Lott Carey Pastoral Excellence Program participant, a past recipient of the Phila. Tribune “10 Under 40 to Watch” Award, and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
One of his favorite verses of scripture is Isaiah 61:1, which states: “The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me; to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners.”
