Pastor Derick Brennan is a native of Philadelphia, PA and is married to Alberta Brennan, Esquire.  They are the proud parents of a son, David.

Pastor Brennan is a prolific preacher, speaker, and teacher of the Word of God, having ministered in South America, Europe, and the Caribbean.  He earned a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Duke University in Durham, N.C with a concentration in Organization Leadership. He also holds a Master of Divinity Degree from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Pennsylvania State University.  Complementing Pastor Brennan’s educational credentials is his extensive vocational experience, which includes business consulting for major corporations.

Pastor Brennan began his pastoral call at Second Canaan Baptist Church, in Harlem, New York, where he faithfully served until 2006.

He is the Senior Pastor at his home church, Canaan Baptist Church in Germantown.  Canaan is a large thriving urban congregation that highlights a multitude of intergenerational ministries serving infants through mature adults. Under his leadership, the church successfully completed a seven year, 2.4 million dollars plus capital campaign above and beyond the church’s operational budget. Through Pastor Brennan’s vision, those funds were utilized to renovate the church’s historic sanctuary, acquire an adjacent property, and develop three contiguous properties owned by Canaan. He initiated and launched an endowment, the GEM Fund, to provide ongoing financial support to enable Canaan’s long-term witness of God’s love. Pastor Brennan oversaw the opening of the Canaan Family Life Center, a 501C3 Human Services Ministry that serves guests from the church, the community, and the surrounding neighborhoods. Pastor Brennan has led Canaan through several strategic planning processes, which has resulted in multi-year annual mission and vision goals.
